Bangladeshi girls beat their strong Indian counterparts 3-1 on Wednesday to reach the semi-final stage of the SAFF Women’s Championship 2024.
The team only needed a draw to secure the semi-final berth against India in Kathmandu, Nepal, but played whole-heartedly throughout the game.
Tohura Khatun scored two goals before teammate Afeida Khandaker scored the match’s first goal at 15 minutes. Indian captain Bala Devi scored the team’s only goal.
In the tournament’s previous iteration two years ago, Bangladesh beat India in the semi-finals before going on to win the championship against Nepal.
