Bangladesh eve football team rewrote the history as they retained the prestigious SAFF Women`s Championship title beating host Nepal by 2-1 goals in the final match held at Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal on Wednesday.
Apart from this, Bangladesh also dominated the awards ceremony as well. Ritu Porna Chakma, the attacking midfielder, was awarded the tournament`s Best Player. She delivered an outstanding performance throughout the SAFF Championship and led Bangladesh to victory in the final against Nepal with a decisive goal.
In addition to being named the tournament`s best player, Ritu Porna also won the Player of the Match award in the final. Reflecting on her achievements and the team`s triumph, she said, "I`m thrilled that we are champions again. Scoring and winning these awards makes me very happy. My family will be proud as well."
Another key player in Bangladesh`s success was goalkeeper Rupna Chakma, who showcased remarkable consistency and reliability. Bangladesh conceded only two goals across four matches. Rupna, who was also awarded the Best Goalkeeper in the 2022 SAFF Championship, retained her title this year as well.
The victorious Bangladesh team is set to return to Dhaka tomorrow (Thursday) at 2:15 PM.
