Bangladesh`s run in the Hong Kong International Sixes came to an end as they fell to a close three-wicket loss against Sri Lanka in the second semifinal.
Despite a strong total of 103 runs in their six overs, Sri Lanka chased down the target with one ball to spare.
Batting first, Bangladesh`s openers Jishan Alam and Abdullah Al Mamun provided an explosive start, with Jishan scoring 36 off 11 balls and Mamun adding 16 from just four balls. Mohammad Saifuddin contributed with an unbeaten 23 off 12 balls, while Abu Haider Rony added a swift 18 off six deliveries.
Sri Lanka responded powerfully, with opener Sadun Wikramadi smashing 50 off 16 balls before retiring as per tournament rules. A quick pair of wickets brought Bangladesh briefly back into the contest, but Sri Lanka’s steady chase ultimately clinched the win.
With this victory, Sri Lanka advanced to the final, where they will face Pakistan. Bangladesh, who had earlier lost to Sri Lanka in the group stage, could not take the desired revenge and will miss out on the tournament finale.
