The interim government would adopt necessary policies and legal frameworks to ensure a sustainable, cost-effective, and high-quality energy sector.
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan told this while addressing at the Bangladesh Energy Prosperity 2050 conference at the BIAM Foundation Complex in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Rizwana said the government would give importance to public opinions in the revised action plan for the energy sector.
The adviser said through the existing agreements of power sector are inconsistent, cancelling those is very costly and time-consuming. So, the decision should be taken through careful planning, Rizwana said.
She mentioned that the government has given directives to publish the Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) of power projects on websites.
The adviser also emphasized the need for modern building designs which could promote energy efficiency and at the same time urged for increasing the use of renewable energy. She also suggested tree plantation on lands acquired for power projects.
Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Advisor of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, spoke in the event as the chief guest.
