The bodies of two children were recovered from a river in Jhenidah`s Kaliganj upazila on Thursday evening.

The bodies were recovered from the Buribhairb River at Hasilbag village under Barobazar union of the upazila.

The dead were Chayan, 7, son of Shawkat Ali of Hasilbagh village, and Abir Hasan, 5, son of Abu Saleh.

Police and locals said Chayan and Abir went out to play on Thursday morning. They could not be found despite searching all day. At one point, when the family became suspicious after they were missing for a day, they went to the nearby Buribhairab River to search.

Later, the bodies of the two were recovered from the river by their relatives.

Kaliganj Police Station OC Shahidul Islam Hawlader confirmed the news. It was initially seemed that the two died after being drowned in the water of the river, he added.
