Former Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali and 125 others were sued for their involvement in sabotage acts during the anti-discrimination student movement in July-August.

Mahbuba Akhter, wife of Momtazur Rahman of Darail village under Sadar upazila filed the case with the court of Dinajpur Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Samiul Islam on Wednesday for attacking and injuring her son Mobasher Rahman during the uprising.

Court Inspector Md Shamsul Islam acknowledged the matter. He said that other major accused of the case are - former State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, former Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad Iqbalur Rahim, former lawmakers Shibly Sadiq and Monoranjon Shill Gopal.

According to the complainant, on August 4 her son Mobasher along with others attended the anti-discrimination students’ movement in front of Dinajpur Sadar Hospital.

At that time, the leaders and activists of Awami League and its front organizations attacked the protesters with firearms and crude bombs, leaving her son critically injured.

Additionally, the attackers also obstructed her son to be admitted into the sadar hospital and forced him (injured) to stay at home to take treatment there, Mahbuba Akhter said.

The court has accepted the petition of the complainant and kept it pending for further order.
