Former officer in-charge of Jatrabari Police Station Abul Hasan has been granted a three-day remand in connection with the attempted murder case of student Manzurul Hasan Jisan during the anti-discrimination protests.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiaq on Wednesday issued the remand order following a hearing.
The investigation officer had initially requested a five-day remand. Prosecutor Omar Faruk argued that Abul Hasan played a significant role during the protests, which resulted in multiple casualties.
Abul Hasan, who was arrested in September 2024, is accused of shooting Jisan in the knee in Dhaka during the protests on August 5, 2024. His remand follows a case filed by the victim`s father in September.
