RAB arrested Abul Kalam Azad, 65, the president of Dumki Upazila Awami League in Patuakhali district.

On Tuesday (April 8) afternoon, RAB arrested him from a relative`s house in Siddhirganj Bhumipalli residential area in Narayanganj and handed him over to police.

Abul Kalam Azad is the number 1 accused in the case filed on charges of vandalism, looting and assaulting the Upazila BNP office.

According to the case statement, to suppress the student-public movement against discrimination, on August 4, 2024, he attacked on protesting students and vandalized the Press Club by Chhatra League and Jubo League as journalists collected news.

Dumki Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Zakir Hossain said that Abul Kalam Azad, the accused in the upazila BNP office vandalism case, has been sent to jail through the court after being shown arrested.
