  12, April, 2025, 7:50:24:PM

Two more deaths from dengue fever have been reported in the last 24 hours, along with 22 new hospitalisations across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

These latest figures bring the nationwide death toll from dengue this year to 16, with the total number of recorded cases rising to 2,074.

Both recent fatalities occurred in the Barishal Division, outside city corporation jurisdictions. Among the newly reported cases, ten originated from rural areas in Barishal Division, three from Dhaka North City Corporation, another three from Dhaka South City Corporation, four from areas outside city corporations in Dhaka Division, and two from similar regions in Chattogram Division.

At present, 102 dengue patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals throughout the country.

Bangladesh continues to face the recurring threat of dengue outbreaks. Last year, the disease caused 575 deaths and over 101,000 reported infections, marking one of the most severe outbreaks in recent history. During that time, 100,040 patients successfully recovered. Health authorities remain vigilant as the current year’s figures continue to grow.
