  11, May, 2025, 11:12:46:AM

International Desk : Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has praised the United States and China for their significant roles in implementing the ceasefire with India, which he also claimed as a "historic victory" for Pakistan.

In a midnight address to the nation on Saturday (May 10), Shehbaz Sharif made these remarks.

During his speech, the Pakistani Prime Minister commended Donald Trump for his "crucial role in the ceasefire" and thanked other nations including Saudi Arabia, China, Turkey, Qatar, and the United Kingdom.

Sharif described China as a "very close, very trustworthy" friend and expressed gratitude. He also acknowledged the United States for playing "the most significant role" in the ceasefire.

"We are a peace-loving nation. Millions of people reside in Pakistan. We have taken this step towards a ceasefire believing it will benefit everyone," said the Prime Minister.

The Pakistani Prime Minister asserted that his country had achieved a "historic victory." He individually thanked the army, navy, and armed forces, stating that they had successfully upheld the nation`s principles.

At the beginning of his address, Shehbaz Sharif stated, "If anyone challenges our independence, we will do whatever is necessary to resist." He demanded an "impartial investigation" into various baseless "allegations" against his country.

Sharif did not comment on the allegations made by the Indian Foreign Secretary regarding Pakistan`s "repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement" before his speech.

Instead, he emphasized in his address that the ceasefire agreement was made "for the benefit of all." He also expressed hope that contentious issues, including water distribution and Kashmir, could be resolved through dialogue.
