The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecasted light to moderate rain or thundershowers across various regions of the country, including the capital, over the next 24 hours beginning from 9am today (May 19, 2025).
According to the BMD bulletin, “Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by lightning and temporary gusty winds are likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Dhaka division; and at one or two places over Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions.” Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions.
The current weather pattern is influenced by a trough of low pressure extending from West Bengal to the North Bay, crossing the southwestern part of Bangladesh.
Daytime temperatures may increase slightly—by 1 to 2°C—in Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions, while remaining nearly unchanged in other regions. Night temperatures are expected to stay consistent across the country.
