The High Court today issued a rule asking why hearings of cases involving public and constitutional importance should not be broadcast live.

The bench of Justice Md. Habibul Gani and Justice Syed Mohammed Tazrul Hossain passed the order after hearing a writ petition.

The court directed the Supreme Court Registrar General, Information Secretary, and Law Secretary to respond within four weeks and set June 26 for the next hearing.

The petition was filed by lawyers Saddam Hossain, Mizanun Haque, Abdullah Sadik, Aminul Islam Shakil, and Zayed-Bin-Amjad, and was moved by Advocate Mohammad Shishir Manir.
