The ferry service on the Paturia-Daulatdia, Aricha-Kazirhat and Chandpur-Shariatpur routes resumed at 9AM on Wednesday, after eight-hour of suspension.
Earlier on Wednesday, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) authorities suspended the ferry movement on the three routes due to poor visibility caused by heavy fog, disconnecting communications at about 12:45 AM.
Fog started falling on the river from 12midnight on Tuesday. As time passed, the intensity of the fog increased. The authorities stopped ferry movement from 12:40AM. At that time, a long tailback of about three kilometers was created on the Daulatdia bank, it was learnt.
