Online Desk : The ‘March for Unity’ called by the Anti-Discrimination Students’ Movement began at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon, December 31.
The programme started around 4:00pm with the speech of Md Abul Hasan, father of Shahriar who was martyred during the July-August student-people movement.
Shahriar was shot dead at Mirpur-10 in the capital.
In his speech, Abul Hasan demanded the government bring former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina back to the country and try her.
If she is not tried, they will again take to the streets, he warned.
Thousands of people started gathering at the Central Shaheed Minar to join the programme from across the country from last night and this afternoon, the assembly turned into a human sea.
Earlier at 1:40am today, the Anti-Discrimination Students’ Movement announced the ‘March for Unity’, replacing previously planned ‘Proclamation of July Revolution.’
