Former Australian cricketer David Warner is gearing up to make his first appearance in Telugu cinema.
Taking to social media, Warner announced that he will have a cameo role in the upcoming film Robinhood, starring Nithiin and Sreeleela. He also shared a movie poster featuring his look, confirming that the film is scheduled for release on March 28.
Warner has long been a fan of Telugu films, frequently posting viral reels featuring Telugu songs. His association with the region strengthened during his stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, where he captained the team to victory in 2016.
Meanwhile, Warner recently weighed in on Australia`s chances in the upcoming home Ashes series against England, asserting that the hosts are favorites. He expressed doubts about England’s aggressive ‘Bazball’ approach working on Australian pitches.
Speaking to the media, as quoted by Wisden, Warner highlighted Australia`s formidable bowling attack, led by captain Pat Cummins, alongside Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and spinner Nathan Lyon.
"At the moment, just with the Australians [as favourites]. Not just knowing the conditions but you have got over 1,400 international, or Test wickets in that lineup with the Australian cricket team. They are world-class bowlers, they are always going to turn out and that is the biggest hurdle for England," said Warner.
Commenting on England’s attacking ‘Bazball’ style, he remarked, "I do not know if Bazball is a myth now over there, but I cannot see it happening in Australia with the bounce and everything and the fields Australia set last time in England. It would be pretty high risk to play that in Australia."
He further added, "Given that you want to wear the wickets out a little bit - get into day four, day five, it is probably not the way to go about it. But if that is the way they go about it, it is going to be high tempo, high energy and we will all get a couple of days off at the back end I think."
