Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes has announced plans to release four films about The Beatles in April 2028, featuring Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.
The unique cinematic event, dubbed "the first bingeable theatrical experience," will present the story of the iconic band from each member’s perspective.
Mendes revealed that the four films will intersect in various ways, offering a deeper understanding of the individual members, while collectively telling the story of the greatest band in history.
The director, known for "American Beauty," had long considered making a Beatles movie but found it too monumental for a single film or mini-series. The filming is set to begin soon and will take over a year to complete, with the exact release schedule yet to be announced.
This announcement was made during the CinemaCon trade event in Las Vegas, where Hollywood studios reveal their upcoming plans. In addition to the Beatles project, Sony Pictures also unveiled new details about the "Spider-Man" franchise, including a live-action film "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" set for July 2026 and the animated "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse" slated for June 2027.
