Bangladesh rescue team continues humanitarian works in Mymanmar

The special rescue team, sent to earthquake-hit-Myanmar at the initiative of the Bangladesh government, is carrying out humanitarian tasks relentlessly, reports BSS.

In the wake of earthquake on March 28 that caused widespread loss of life damage to infrastructure, a special rescue and medical assistance team under the supervision of the Bangladesh Armed Forces was sent to Naypyidaw, the capital of Myanmar, on April 1, said an ISPR press release today.


The rescue operation was conducted on the quake-hit building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs there.

Important documents and other items were recovered in this operation.

The Bangladesh Medical Assistance Team provided medical services at the 50-bed Zabuthiri Hospital and the 1,000-bed General Hospital in Naypyidaw city today, the release said.

The Bangladesh Medical Team also provided medical assistance to 143 patients by conducting a special medical campaign in Pyinmana Township in the capital.

A total of 162 patients received treatment today while four complex surgeries were done.

Till today, the Bangladesh Medical Team has provided medical care to a total of 619 earthquake-injured patients.

This humanitarian effort, led by the Bangladesh Armed Forces, will continue tomorrow in coordination with the local administration.
