Bangladesh expands footprint at China-South Asia expo
  21, June, 2025, 11:32:23:PM

Bangladesh has made a notable impact at this year’s China-South Asia Expo, demonstrating its growing commitment to regional economic cooperation and trade expansion, report UNB.

The country`s significantly expanded presence reflects a strategic push to strengthen partnerships across South Asia and beyond.

Compared to previous years, Bangladesh’s participation has seen a sharp increase. “Last year, Bangladesh had fewer than 10 stalls. This year, we are showcasing nearly 70 to 80 stalls,” said Bhuyan Muhammad Hussain, Vice President of China-Bangla Friendship Association.

The exhibits feature a wide array of Bangladeshi products, including ready-made garments, leather goods, agricultural products, and beverages, according to a report by CGTN.

Md. Maruf Ahmed, an official from Akij Venture Ltd, shared that the company currently exports beverages and juice products to more than 40 countries. He also expressed optimism about entering the Chinese market with fresh produce. “There’s strong interest in exporting mangoes to China, as the collaboration between our countries continues to grow,” he noted.

Alimuzzaman, a first-time participant at the expo, is promoting yarn and twine. “My expectations are high. I believe this platform will help us reach a broader network of buyers,” he said.

China remains Bangladesh’s largest trading partner and both countries are now working on an upgraded investment agreement aimed at liberalizing trade and boosting bilateral investment. Bangladeshi officials are hopeful that the new framework will open up further opportunities in agriculture, manufacturing, and the RMG (readymade garment) sector.

Mohammad Foyshol Azad, Chairman of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh, emphasized the country’s readiness to welcome foreign investment. “We see vast potential in agriculture, industry, and garments. We hope future cooperation between China and Bangladesh will be even more robust and friendly,” he said.

Yunnan Province, the host of the expo, is playing an increasingly strategic role in linking China to South and Southeast Asia. Organizers and officials alike hope that the expo will strengthen its position as a regional gateway, promoting connectivity, collaboration, and shared prosperity across borders.
