Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 515 pieces of various Indian-brand sarees during a special operation at Nalitabari upazila in Sherpur district.
The sarees were confiscated by patrolling BGB members of Baromari BOP under the Mymensingh BGB 39 Battalion during an attempt to smuggle them into Bangladesh on Wednesday morning. Wheat import Mymensingh 39 BGB Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Md. Mehedi Hasan confirmed the seizure and said that the estimated value of the sarees is Tk 33 lakh 93 thousand.
Separately, patrolling BGB members from the Haldigram BOP, under the jurisdiction of the BGB Baromari Company Camp Headquarters, also seized 24 bottles of Indian liquor. However, no arrests were made by the BGB in connection with these incidents.
