Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali on Monday warned that strict action would be taken against any attempts to disrupt the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections.
Speaking at a coordination meeting on security and traffic management for the DUCSU elections, held at DMP Headquarters, the commissioner emphasized that the police are fully prepared to support the Election Commission in ensuring a safe and smooth voting process.
“Strict action will be taken if any attempt is made to disrupt the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union elections. Coordinated efforts from all government agencies are crucial to conduct a fair and peaceful election,” Sazzat Ali said.
The meeting began with a presentation by DMP Joint Police Commissioner (Operations) Mohammad Shahidullah, outlining the comprehensive security plan for the elections. Representatives from various government and law enforcement agencies then joined an open discussion, sharing their inputs and suggestions.
Other senior police officials present included Additional Police Commissioners SN Md Nazrul Islam (Crime and Operations), Hasan Md Shawkat Ali (Logistics, Finance and Procurement), Md Masud Karim (CTTC), Md Shafiqul Islam (Detective Branch), and Md Zillur Rahman (Traffic).
The DMP Commissioner reaffirmed the department’s commitment to providing all necessary support to uphold law and order and ensure a credible student election at Dhaka University.
