Ousted Nepali PM Oli traced under military-protection
  10, September, 2025, 9:59:0:PM

News Desk : In a dramatic development, KP Sharma Oli, the ousted Prime Minister of Nepal, has been found and is confirmed to be still in the country.

He is currently staying in the Shivpuri area, under military protection, according to reports from Nepali media outlet Khabar Hub on Wednesday.

Oli, who abruptly resigned on September 9 amid massive youth-led protests that culminated in the torching of the Parliament building, broke his silence with a written message addressed to the Gen Z protesters, the youth movement that played a pivotal role in his downfall.

In a deeply personal and reflective statement, Oli expressed sorrow over the loss of young lives during the violent crackdown.

“Even though I became childless due to state oppression, the desire to become a father is still alive in me,” he said in an emotional reference to the death of his own son years ago, which he linked to political struggle.

Oli, a veteran of Nepali politics and former Home Minister in 1994, recalled his time in office with pride: “No bullets were fired under my command. I have always stood for peace.”

He lamented that the current protests, which began as a cry for digital freedom and justice, have now, in his view, been hijacked.

“The arson and destruction of important government offices did not happen spontaneously,” Oli warned. “There is an attempt to use your innocent faces for ulterior political motives.”

He accused unseen forces of manipulating the youth, urging them not to let their legitimate anger be weaponised.

“You are the future of Nepal. Don’t let your energy be channeled into chaos,” he appealed.

Despite being forced from power, Oli reaffirmed his commitment to national sovereignty, once again raising the issue of Lipulekh, Kalapani, and Limpiyadhura, territories claimed by Nepal but currently under Indian administration.

“These lands are ours. Our maps must reflect our truth,” he insisted.

He also emphasized the importance of civil liberties, stating that “ensuring the freedom of citizens to speak, to move, and to question authority” has been the very purpose of his political life.

While Oli remains under military protection in Shivpuri, a secluded, forested area on the outskirts of Kathmandu, his reappearance has sparked mixed reactions.

The interim administration, formed after Oli’s resignation, has yet to comment on his whereabouts or status.
