Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has once again raised gold prices in the local market, citing an increase in the price of pure (tejabi) gold.

According to a press release issued on Tuesday, the new prices will come into effect on Wednesday.

Under the revised rates, the price of 22-carat gold—the highest quality available; has risen to Tk 189,622 per bhori, marking the highest gold price ever recorded in the country.

On Tuesday, gold was being sold at Tk 185,947 per bhori.

Other gold categories have also seen price increases. The price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 181,002 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will now cost Tk 155,143 per bhori.

Gold made using the traditional method is priced at Tk 128,701 per bhori under the revised rates.

Alongside gold, the price of silver has also been raised significantly.

The new rate for 22-carat silver is Tk 3,476 per bhori, up from the previous Tk 2,811.

Similarly, the price of 21-carat silver has been increased to Tk 3,313, 18-carat silver to Tk 2,846, and traditional-method silver to Tk 2,135 per bhori.

BAJUS stated that the price adjustments were necessary due to a rise in the cost of pure gold in the local market.
