Revolution requires organisation: Mirza Fakhrul
  19, September, 2025, 8:41:56:PM

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday said no revolution can succeed without a strong revolutionary organization, stressing that the prevailing frustration in society stems from a lack of organizational strength.

Speaking at a memorial meeting for late Marxist intellectual Comrade Badruddin Umar at Bangla Academy’s Shahityabisharad Auditorium in Dhaka, Fakhrul said, “In my view, revolutions only succeed when there is strong organization. Those who want to bring change, who want to improve people’s conditions, must first build and strengthen that organization. Only by connecting closely with the people can real change be achieved.”

The BNP leader noted that today’s political disillusionment has its roots in organizational weakness. “If there is no revolutionary organization, there will be no revolution,” he asserted.

Recalling his interactions with Umar, Fakhrul said although he had limited opportunities to meet him, he was deeply impressed by Umar’s steadfastness. “Until his last day, Badruddin Umar never compromised on his ideals and struggles. We, who are engaged in politics today, have great respect for him because he never compromised. I am not sure how much the younger generation has been able to absorb from his legacy,” he said.

The memorial program began with a minute of silence in Umar’s honor, followed by a rendition of the Communist International anthem and a documentary screening on his life.

Other speakers included economist Mahbub Ullah, Comrade Khalekuzzaman Bhuiyan, Dr Akmal Hossain, Comrade Sajib Roy, and Professor Sirajul Islam.
