Some advisers conspiring to bring a certain party to power: Porwar
  11, October, 2025, 9:49:23:PM

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former MP Mia Golam Porwar has alleged that as the national election approaches, restlessness is growing within the administration and among some government advisers — with a few secretly plotting to bring a particular party back to power.

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a student and youth rally organized by the upazila unit of Jamaat-e-Islami on Saturday morning at Paikgachha Government College field.

Porwar said, “In the past, the student community and the masses led revolutions. This time, we want a revolution through the ballot — a revolution for good governance, justice, and Islamic values. We want to trust this government, which was said to be non-partisan. We also pledged to cooperate. The Chief Adviser himself said he did not come to rule but to deliver a free and fair election. But as the election nears, some advisers and officials appear increasingly restless.”

Porwar accused certain officials in key administrative posts — including officers-in-charge, UNOs, DCs, and secretariat bureaucrats — of making biased decisions under pressure from a specific political party. “We never demanded that you take our side,” he said. “We only ask that you stay on the side of truth, justice, and fairness.”

Calling for a level playing field, he said, “An election cannot be fair if one side of the playing field is raised and the other is low. Secret meetings, selective distribution of aid, and political bias within the administration make a mockery of neutrality. Such behavior, evident in the bureaucracy and secretariat, is deeply concerning.”

He further alleged that “one or two advisers” have secretly aligned themselves with a certain party and are engaged in behind-the-scenes conspiracies to ensure that party’s victory. “Yet the Chief Adviser has assured us of neutrality,” Porwar said. “We want him to remain firm in that stance — upright like a balance scale, without leaning to any side.”

Urging people to vote for Jamaat-e-Islami, Porwar said, “If people vote for us to establish justice, good governance, and divine law, and we are entrusted with state responsibilities, we will serve as public servants, not rulers. Our Ameer has repeatedly affirmed this.”

Referring to the 2024 mass movement, he said, “It was a people’s struggle against fascism. Now our second battle is against corruption. To win this war, the student community must send Islamic forces to Parliament.”

Porwar also pledged that if Jamaat comes to power, its first priority will be reforming the education system to ensure equal access for all, followed by declaring a war on corruption and building a society free from discrimination. He also reaffirmed Jamaat’s commitment to introducing Quran-based laws in Parliament to ensure justice.

The rally was presided over by Paikgachha Upazila Ameer Maulana Saidur Rahman. Among the special guests were Jamaat’s central executive committee member and party-nominated candidate for Khulna-6, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, and Islami Chhatra Shibir Secretary General Nurul Islam Saddam.

The event was conducted by Upazila Secretary Md Altaf Hossain, and addressed by several local and central leaders, including Khulna district Naeb-e-Ameer Maulana Golam Sarwar, district secretary Munshi Mizanur Rahman, city Shibir president Arafat Hossain Milon, South District President Abu Zar Al Gifari, and others.
