Govt’s survival uncertain if BNP takes to streets: Gayeshwar
  2, November, 2025, 5:16:41:PM

BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy has said that if the BNP decides to take to the streets over the July Charter issue, the interim government may not survive.

“If the BNP goes to the field, it’s doubtful whether this government will be able to stay in power. However, we are in favor of maintaining a peaceful and stable environment,” Gayeshwar told reporters on Sunday after members of the newly formed executive committee of the Doctors’ Association of Bangladesh (DAB) paid tribute at the grave of late President Ziaur Rahman at Zia Udyan in Dhaka.

He said there had been “many alterations and flaws” in the final decision on the July Charter, accusing the government of deceiving the nation. “The people have understood this betrayal. Yet the Chief Adviser and the government remain silent. The government must take the right decision immediately,” he added.

Responding to remarks made by other political parties about the BNP, Goyeshwar said, “They are trying to make BNP controversial because they see the possibility of the party returning to power in the coming days. We don’t consider anyone our rival.”

Among others, DAB Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Farhad Halim Donar, President Professor Dr. Harun Al Rashid, General Secretary Dr. Md Zahirul Islam Shakil, Vice President Professor Dr. Abul Kenan, Treasurer Dr. Mehedi Hasan, Senior Joint Secretary Dr. A.K.M. Khalekuzzaman Dipu, and Office Secretary Md Erfan Ahmed Sohel were present on the occasion.
