Govt renames 880 establishments previously named after Hasina, family
  22, November, 2025, 9:14:28:PM

The government has renamed 880 institutions and structures that were previously named after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and other members of their family.

The updated list has been released in a newly published compilation.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam shared the information on Saturday in a Facebook post, noting that the comprehensive list spans 160 pages and includes offices, schools, research centres and various government facilities.

He described the publication as a reflection of what he termed a longstanding trend under Hasina’s tenure, where family affiliations were given elevated prominence.

According to the Press Secretary, copies of the compilation have already been distributed to print, television and online media outlets.

Earlier in June, the Chief Adviser’s Office had announced that 808 establishments had already been renamed, while another 169; including military bases, naval ships, bridges, roads, educational institutions and hospitals, were undergoing the renaming process.
