Tarique Rahman urges patience, unveils 16-Point
  27, November, 2024, 9:49:26:PM

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today (Nov 27) urging people to remain patient, calm, and vigilant in the face of such attempts highlighted 16 points.

In light of the current political situation, Rahman issued a statement on Wednesday (Nov 27) through BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

Tarique Rahman claimed that conspirators are blending with protesters to destabilize the country and create chaos. He urged the people to remain patient, calm, and vigilant.

The statement highlighted 16 points, calling on the nation to stay united and aware of the ongoing challenges.

The 16 points are:

- The nation faces a volatile environment following the ousting of the autocratic regime. On one side, long-deprived citizens are demanding their rights; on the other, remnants of the fugitive regime are fueling unrest and seeking revenge.
- Over the last 15 years, the fugitive autocrat created systemic irregularities and stripped citizens of their rights. The current movements by people from all walks of life aim to restore those rights and dismantle the legacy of corruption.
- Opportunists linked to the ousted regime are reportedly trying to destabilize the government by exploiting ongoing public movements, blending into protests, and creating chaos.
- There are visible efforts to incite unrest nationwide, using legitimate public grievances as a pretext for conspiracy and disorder.
- Events in Dhaka and other regions over the past few days are interconnected and reflect a concerning trend of attempts to undermine state stability.
- Questions have arisen about why student leaders, who played a pivotal role in anti-autocratic movements, are now showing hostility toward one another.
- Acts of vandalism and arson in educational institutions cannot be seen as isolated incidents. Authorities are urged to investigate and monitor such activities closely.
- The government is advised to investigate whether the fugitive regime is attempting to create communal tensions and to take measures to prevent such attempts.
- The interim government is urged to act decisively to manage the situation and address public grievances effectively, as growing public impatience could be exploited by conspirators.
- Addressing everyday economic hardships should be the government`s top priority. Many families are struggling to cope with rising costs, and this issue must be resolved to prevent further unrest.
- Stabilizing prices of essential goods is critical, as conspirators might exploit economic distress to destabilize the government.
- The interim government must ensure political and economic empowerment of citizens and work to maintain public trust, avoiding actions that could fracture unity.
- While protests are a constitutional right, citizens are urged to ensure their movements are not hijacked by anti-state elements or the remnants of the fugitive regime.
- Authorities must closely monitor activities to prevent miscreants, both domestic and foreign, from infiltrating and derailing legitimate protests.
- The interim government, operating under extraordinary circumstances, is striving to stabilize the nation and address public grievances. Citizens are encouraged to present their concerns responsibly to avoid providing opportunities for conspirators.
- Citizens are urged to remain calm, vigilant, and united. Overcoming conspiracies on the path to democracy requires resilience, and failure to do so could have dire consequences for the nation.
