Three bodies recovered in Jashore
  18, December, 2024, 9:16:27:PM

Police have recovered the bodies of three individuals in separate incidents in Jashore`s Sharsha and Monirampur upazilas.

Among them are Sabu Hossain, 35, son of late Arif Hossain from Dighi Par village, and Jahangir Hossain, 36, a resident of Kagojpur village and son of late Yunus Ali Morol, whose bodies were discovered near the Ichamati River in Sharsha border area. Another unidentified body was found on a road in Monirampur on Wednesday morning.

In the early hours of Wednesday, locals spotted a body near the Ichamati River, approximately 100 meters inside the Bangladesh border at Sharsha`s Pach Bhulat area. Upon receiving the report, Sharsha police, along with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel, retrieved the body. The victim was identified as Jahangir Hossain. The body bore multiple injury marks. Police suspect that Jahangir, allegedly involved in cross-border smuggling, may have been detained and assaulted by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) before succumbing to his injuries and being left near the border.

In another incident, the body of Sabu Hossain was recovered in the Puthkhali area. According to police, Sabu reportedly crossed the Ichamati River on Tuesday night, aiming to smuggle cattle across the Indian border. He was allegedly apprehended and beaten by BSF personnel before being released into Bangladeshi territory in critical condition. Local residents found him injured in an orchard and notified his family, who brought him home. However, Sabu passed away shortly after drinking water early Wednesday morning.

Assistant Police Superintendent (Navaron Circle) Nishat Al Nahian confirmed the incidents and stated that the bodies have been sent to Jashore Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Investigations are ongoing.

Meanwhile, an unidentified body was recovered from a road in Monirampur`s Lauri area on Wednesday morning.

Police are working to identify the deceased and establish the circumstances of their death.
