BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is scheduled to be airlifted to London on Tuesday night for advanced medical treatment for multiple health conditions.
The decision follows a meeting with BNP Standing Committee members at her residence in Gulshan on Sunday night.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir confirmed to reporters that Khaleda Zia would depart Dhaka via a Qatar Airways air ambulance at 10 PM on Tuesday (January 7). Upon her arrival in London, she is expected to be admitted directly to a hospital for necessary medical procedures.
He said, "We all hope that, BNP chairperson will return home after her successful treatment to give leadership in restoring democracy in the country."
He also elaborated,"We met the party chairperson to express well wishes for her advanced treatment. During the meeting, she advised the BNP leaders and workers to remain united and fight for restoring democracy and rights of vote."
The meeting was attended by senior party leaders, including Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Zamir Uddin Sarkar, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Salahuddin Ahmed, Selima Rahman, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, and AZM Zahid Hossain.
Earlier in the evening, Khaleda Zia was visited by LDP President and former minister Col (retd) Oli Ahmed Bir Bikram, who expressed well wishes ahead of her departure.
