Govt achieves success in controlling commodity prices, law and order
  6, March, 2025, 5:44:13:PM

(BSS) - The government is achieving success in controlling commodity prices as well as law and order situation as deputy commissioners` actions play effective role in implementing government`s instructions, creating hopes among the people.

The government already brought commodity prices under control since the beginning of the month of Ramadan taking different initiatives along with foiling plans of the cohorts of the fallen dictator to create instability in the country through `Operation Devil Hunt`.

The deputy commissioners already acted to implement government orders after DC conference to be held two weeks ago in Dhaka, resulting in visible relief in the commodity prices and public life.

Mobile courts are being operated along with market supervision by the DCs as the police administration has also been conducting drives to eliminate terrorists.

The administration has been able to demolish the vested quarter`s interest to destabilize the country by hiking essentials prices before Ramadan and deteriorating law and order situation.

After the interim government gave a message to take strict action in this regard at the DC conference, the deputy commissioners started a series of campaigns to control prices in their respective districts.

Talking to BSS, Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam said no mercy is being shown to any hoarders.

"Before the start of Ramadan, I held four rounds of meetings with the traders, giving them a warning. I urged them not to create an artificial crisis of rice, pulses, oil, and sugar by hoarding," she said.

It has been seen that although the supply and prices of all products are normal, an attempt has been made to create an artificial crisis of soybean oil, she added.

"On Tuesday, I conducted a drive in Khatunganj, known as the wholesale hub of the commercial capital and port city of Chattogram along with Chattogram City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain," Khanam said.

At that time, she said the traders announced to sell soybean oil at Taka 160.

"I have issued a public notice. If necessary, the dishonest traders will be brought under the law," she said.

She also said so far, 40 mobile courts have been conducted and there are plans for conducting another 400 mobile court drives during the month of Ramadan.

A deputy commissioner wishing not to be named said, "Although we perform the duties at the district level, we are actually mid-level officials of the administration. We are proud to have a Nobel laureate and professor of economics, who is respected by the world, as the Chief Adviser of our country. This is a blessing for us. We are trying our best to protect his honor."

"Two weeks ago, the deputy commissioners of the country returned to their respective districts from Dhaka after taking oath," he said.

Our first task was to break the syndicate of daily essentials before the Ramadan as the top priority and focal point of the discussion at the DC conference was to control price, identify hoarders and break their syndicates, improve law and order, bring the allies of the fallen dictator under the law.

Bangladesh Human Rights Foundation Secretary General Advocate Zia Habib Ahsan said, "We are happy with the government`s steps. A consensus has been established among the country`s political parties on state reforms. So it is hoped that the country will get on the right track in the coming days".

"If we can control corruption, we as a nation will be able to take our status to a higher place in the world," he said.
