Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Wednesday warned that criminals would not be spared under any circumstances.
Instructions were given to the law enforcers to ensure that no innocent people are harassed during drives against criminals, he said while talking to reporters after visiting the Badda, Rampura, Hatirjheel and Tejgaon Police Stations.
"I came here to share Eid greetings with them. While others were on holiday, our law enforcers remained on duty, working day and night. Their dedication is commendable, but their living and dining conditions need improvement," he said.
"We have discussed ways to enhance their accommodations. Their living standards must be upgraded," he added.
When reporters asked about his assessment of the current law and order situation, the adviser replied, "You have been observing the situation daily. Compare it with previous years—do you think it has improved or deteriorated?"
"If law enforcers remain alert, people can sleep in peace. We will show zero tolerance to terrorism while ensuring no innocent person faces harassment."
