A 35-year-old woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her brother-in-low in Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf upazila on Wednesday.

The incident took place around 9:00 AM at Kharangkhali Purba Maheshkhalia Para area in the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Jannat Ara, 35, wife of Mohammad Ismayeel, a resident of the same area in the upazila.

According to locals, Ibrahim was taking preparation to take drugs at their home. Jannat Ara prohibited him from taking drugs.

Ibrahim, being furious, stabbed Jannat with a knife indiscriminately, leaving her dead from excessive bleeding.

Confirming the matter, Howaikyang Police Camp In-charge Mojaherul Islam said that a team of police recovered the body and sent it to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination.

Ibrahim went into hiding after the incident, the OC said, adding that police were trying to arrest him.
