The Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, has said that Bangladesh has brilliant ideas that could change the world. He noted that there are excellent business opportunities in the country, which could create prospects not just for Bangladesh but for the entire world.
Highlighting microcredit as an example, he said the concept, which began in a small village in Bangladesh, has now evolved into a major business model in the United States.
Yunus made these remarks as the chief guest at the inauguration of the Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025, held at the InterContinental Hotel in the capital on Wednesday (April 9). While speaking about the Liberation War of 1971 during his speech, the Chief Adviser became emotional, and his voice faltered for a few moments.
The four-day summit, organised by the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), officially began on April 7. However, the Chief Adviser formally inaugurated the event today.
Earlier, Yunus presented awards to various organizations in four categories for their contributions to investment. The awardees included Walton (local investor), bKash (foreign investor), Square Pharmaceuticals, and Fabrics.
In a special category, the Chairman of the Korean Export Processing Zone, Ki-Hak Sang, was awarded honorary citizenship.
