Gaza Carnage Worsens: Dozens More Killed as Netanyahu Hardens Stance
  20, April, 2025, 11:17:42:AM

International Desk : Israeli forces have continued their intense aerial bombardment of Gaza, resulting in the deaths of at least another 52 Palestinians. The death toll in the last 24 hours has exceeded 90, with many more reported injured. This brings the total number of fatalities in the blockaded territory to over 51,150.

This information was reported on Sunday (April 20th) by the Anadolu Agency and Al Jazeera, citing separate reports.

Since the renewed Israeli offensive began in Gaza on March 18th, nearly 1,800 Palestinians have been killed. Amidst this escalating situation, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered a further intensification of attacks in Gaza.

Al Jazeera reports that Israeli forces relentlessly bombed Gaza throughout Saturday, resulting in the deaths of at least 52 Palestinians. This escalation comes after Hamas reportedly rejected another Israeli proposal for a temporary ceasefire and demanded an agreement to end the conflict in exchange for the release of prisoners. Following this, Prime Minister Netanyahu vowed to continue the military campaign in Gaza.

According to the Anadolu Agency, citing the Gaza Health Ministry on Saturday, the total death toll in the Gaza Strip from Israel`s "genocidal aggression" that began in October 2023 has now reached 51,157.

A statement from the ministry indicated that another 219 injured individuals from Israeli attacks in the past 48 hours have been admitted to various hospitals in Gaza. This raises the total number of injured since the start of the conflict to 116,724. The ministry added that many people remain trapped under rubble and in the streets, with rescue teams unable to reach them.

It is worth recalling that Israel agreed to a ceasefire in Gaza on January 19th, following a 15-month military operation and under pressure from the United States and the international community. Relative peace prevailed in Gaza for approximately two months. However, disagreements within Hamas regarding the withdrawal of Israeli troops led to a renewed series of Israeli airstrikes in Gaza starting in the third week of March.

According to the Health Ministry, the recent Israeli airstrikes, which began on March 18th, have now resulted in the deaths of 1,783 Palestinians and injured approximately 4,700 more. This renewed aggression by Israel has violated the ceasefire agreement that went into effect in January of this year.

The United Nations previously reported that Israel`s intense attacks had displaced nearly 85 percent of the Palestinian population in Gaza, and 60 percent of the infrastructure in the blockaded territory has been damaged or destroyed.
