Bangladesh Railways will start the sale of train tickets for Eid-ul-Azha journey from May 21.
Sale of return tickets will start on May 30. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Bangladesh Railway director general Afzal Hossain.
Tickets for May 31 will be sold on May 21. Tickets for June 1 will be available on May 22; for June 2, on May 23; for June 3, on May 24; for June 4, on May 25; for June 5, on May 26; and for June 6, on May 27. The sale of return tickets will begin on May 30. Advance tickets for June 9 will be available on that day. Tickets for the western regions will be sold from 8:00am, while tickets for the eastern regions will be sold from 2:00pm. All tickets for the Eid journey have to be collected online. Tickets for June 7 and 8 will be sold depending on the sighting of the Eid moon. The holy Eid-ul-Azha is likely to be celebrated in the country on June 7 or 8, depending on the moon sighting. Trains are one of cheapest and safest modes of transport in Bangladesh. There are relatively fewer train accidents compared to accidents on roads and waterways.
