Bangladesh Airlines Reroute to Sidestep Pakistani Airspace
  7, May, 2025, 10:32:21:PM

Following reciprocal attacks between India and Pakistan, various Bangladeshi airlines are bypassing Pakistani airspace. This rerouting is causing slightly longer flight times for several flights.

On Wednesday (May 7th), A.B.M. Rowshan Kabir, General Manager of the Public Relations Department of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, confirmed this information.

He stated that due to the India-Pakistan tensions, Bangladeshi aircraft are avoiding Pakistani airspace. Flights are taking slightly longer due to the alternative routes. However, he added that flights over India are currently operating normally.

It is worth noting that on April 22nd, a devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, resulted in the death of 26 people.

This was the deadliest attack in Kashmir since the 2019 Pulwama attack. Indirectly accusing Pakistan of involvement in the attack, India on Wednesday suspended the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty with the country.

Simultaneously, India took several other measures. In response, Pakistan announced the suspension of the Simla Agreement and the closure of its airspace to Indian aircraft. All trade with India has also been suspended.
