BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia is on complete rest as advised by her medical board, after returning home from London following four months of treatment.
"Doctors are regularly monitoring madam`s health. She is doing fine," said BNP Media Cell member Shyrul Kabir Khan.
“Madam travelled for a long time. Considering her physical condition, the medical board has recommended complete rest. Accordingly, she is now resting,” he added.
It is learned that doctors are visiting Begum Khaleda Zia’s residence on a roster basis to check her health regularly.
She is undergoing treatment in accordance with the medical advice provided by doctors at The London Clinic. The BNP chairperson remains under round-the-clock observation by the medical board.
“In the last two days, no one except her family members and close relatives has visited her. She is spending time with her family in a cheerful mood,” Khan said.
According to sources, Begum Khaleda Zia is in good spirits. Doctors in London have recommended light walking instead of continuous sitting. Her medical board members are monitoring her condition at home. Her personal physician, Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, is coordinating her treatment. She is being served home-cooked meals as per doctors’ instructions.
Earlier, on May 6, the former Prime Minister returned home after four months of treatment in the UK. From the airport, she went directly to her Gulshan residence, Feroza. She was accompanied by her daughters-in-law, Dr Zubaida Rahman and Syeda Shamila Rahman.
