Fifteen teams have officially secured their spots in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
The tournament will feature a record 20 teams, with five spots still up for grabs through regional qualifiers.
Italy made headlines on Friday by qualifying for T20 World Cup for the first time in history, joining the Netherlands as the two confirmed representatives from Europe region.
India and Sri Lanka are automatic qualifiers as co-hosts. Eight teams earned direct qualification by finishing in the top tier of the 2024 T20 World Cup: Bangladesh, Australia, England, South Africa, West Indies, Afghanistan, and the United States, along with host India.
Since India already secured a spot through hosting, an additional berth was granted based on ICC rankings. This opened the door for New Zealand, Pakistan, and Ireland to qualify based on their rankings.
Canada joined the list from Americas regional qualifier, while Europe will be represented by Netherlands and debutants Italy.
In total, the 15 confirmed nations for the 2026 tournament are: India, Sri Lanka, Australia, England, South Africa, West Indies, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, United States, New Zealand, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada (Americas), Netherlands, Italy (Europe)
Five more teams will qualify through upcoming regional competitions; three from Asia and two from Africa.
The 2026 T20 World Cup promises to be the biggest edition yet, both in terms of teams and global reach.
