Bangladesh bounce back in style to level T20 series against Sri Lanka
  13, July, 2025, 11:56:6:PM

After a disappointing loss in the first T20, Bangladesh came back with a bang in the second match, crushing Sri Lanka by 83 runs to level the three-match series 1-1.

Chasing a target of 178, Sri Lanka were bowled out for a mere 94 runs, thanks to a disciplined and fiery bowling effort led by Rishad Hossain and Shoriful Islam.

Sri Lanka’s innings quickly unravelled under pressure. Opener Pathum Nissanka made a resilient 32 off 29 balls, but the rest of the batting lineup struggled. Kusal Mendis (8), Kusal Perera (0), Avishka Fernando (2), and Charith Asalanka (5) all fell cheaply, while Dasun Shanaka contributed a brief 20 runs.

Shoriful Islam made an immediate impact with two quick wickets following an early run-out that shook the Sri Lankan camp. Saifuddin, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Rishad Hossain supported the attack with crucial wickets, sealing a comprehensive victory.

Earlier, Bangladesh had stumbled to 7 for 2, but Liton Das and Towhid Hridoy steadied the ship with a valuable 69-run partnership. Hridoy struck 31 off 25 balls with two boundaries and a six before falling.

Liton Das played a commanding innings, scoring 76 off 50 balls with five sixes and a four, while Shamim Hossain Patwari smashed a quick 48 from 27 balls, including five sixes and two boundaries, before being run out.

Bangladesh’s dominant all-round display not only secured a commanding win but also set the stage for a thrilling decider in the series.
