Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has officially confirmed his participation in the upcoming season of United States Minor League Cricket, signing with Atlanta Fire as an international wildcard.
Currently representing the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in Caribbean Premier League, Shakib shared the news via a video message released by Atlanta Fire on Wednesday.
Expressing his enthusiasm, he said, “I’m delighted to announce that I’ve joined Atlanta Fire and will be playing for them in Minor League Cricket tournament. It’s also great news that Atlanta Cricket is this year’s title sponsor of 39th FOBANA convention. I wish the event every success and hope to see you all soon.”
Atlanta Fire had teased the signing earlier this month, referring to Shakib as “a game-changer” whose vast international experience would bring significant value and star appeal to the team.
The 2025 Minor League Cricket season is set to begin on August 28 and will run through October 2.
Launched in 2021, Minor League serves as a developmental platform and feeder system for Major League Cricket, the premier franchise competition in the United States.
Shakib’s inclusion is expected to boost the profile of both the league and Atlanta Fire franchise, as the Bangladesh veteran continues to expand his presence in global T20 circuits.
