At least four people, including three members of a single family, were killed in a head-on collision between a passenger auto-rickshaw and a covered van in the Borochala area of Kaliakair upazila in Gazipur on Friday afternoon (July 18).

In this incident two others were injured.

The incident occurred on the Kaliakair-Mawna regional road when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw heading towards Kaliakair collided with a covered van coming from the opposite direction.

According to police and eyewitnesses, two passengers died on the spot, while three others sustained serious injuries. The injured were rushed to Kaliakair Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared two more dead.

Sub-Inspector Mohammad Suruj Uz Zaman of Fulbaria Police Camp under Kaliakair Police Station confirmed the matter.

He said the deceased included a husband, wife, and their son, though their identities could not be confirmed immediately.

The covered van involved in the crash has been seized. Police said legal procedures are underway in connection with the incident.
