Jamaat to fight religious and political militancy: Taher
  20, July, 2025, 12:27:27:AM

At a massive national rally held at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on Saturday, July 19, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-e-Amir Dr Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher declared a resolute stand against all forms of militancy, both religious and political.

Addressing tens of thousands of supporters, Taher emphasised the party’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and democratic Bangladesh ahead of the 13th parliamentary elections.

“Jamaat does not support militancy or terrorism. There is no place for militancy in Islam. Whether it’s religious or political militancy, Jamaat will fight against it and, if necessary, stand firm to prevent its rise in Bangladesh,” Taher stated, rallying the crowd at the historic venue.

Taher underscored Jamaat’s vision for a people-centric electoral process, asserting, “In the next elections, the people’s choice will prevail. Those who oppose extortion and support good governance will triumph. Today’s massive rally at Suhrawardy Udyan sends a clear message: the pro-Bangladesh forces will win.”

He highlighted the party’s goal to ensure a fair and transparent election, aligning with its seven-point demands, including a proportional representation system and the implementation of the July Charter.
