Police have detained a young man on charges of raping a four-year-old child at Khulna Sadar upazila on Tuesday.

The arrest took place at Dakkhin Harintana in Labanchara Police Station area of the city.

The arrested has been identified as Abdullah Al Muhib, 17, son of Mujibur Rahman, a resident of the same area.

Confirming the detention, Labanchara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Touhiduzzaman said that the victim`s family were tenants in Muhib`s house. On Monday, Muhib allegedly took advantage of an empty house to rape the child.

The victim`s father filed a written complaint with the police on Tuesday, leading to Muhib`s arrest. After the initial investigation corroborated the facts, police arrested him and subsequently sent him to jail on Wednesday morning through a court order.
