BNP won’t enter confrontation despite opponents’ actions: Khasru
  23, November, 2025, 6:50:2:PM

BNP Standing Committee Member Ameer Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said that without a change in political culture, the country cannot move in the right direction.

Speaking at a discussion at Bangladesh Medical University on Sunday, he said BNP is committed to democratic values and will not resort to confrontational politics. The event focused on the future state vision outlined in BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s 31-point declaration and the context of the country’s healthcare system.

“BNP practices political tolerance because it works to fulfill people’s aspirations. The party does not believe in confrontation,” he said, adding that Tarique Rahman has clearly instructed that BNP must not engage in conflict. “Whatever the opponents do, BNP will not go for confrontation,” he asserted.

Ameer Khasru said the country’s education system is failing to meet employment needs. “Everyone is running after general degrees, matric, intermediate, bachelor’s, doctors, engineers. But no one focuses on vocational requirements,” he said.

Citing China as an example, he noted that 60% of Chinese students enter vocational schools and become electricians, plumbers, and machinists, driving the economy. Without skill development, he warned, no jobs will be created in industries, IT, or factories.

He described the IT sector as Bangladesh’s most promising field and reiterated BNP’s goal of creating one crore (10 million) jobs through vocational training, IT training, and increased industrial investment. Unemployed youths with general degrees would be integrated into the workforce through skill development programs.

Referring to the booming call-center industry in neighboring countries, he said Bangladesh also has major plans for this sector.

“This is not just a political promise; it is a practical program,” he added. “People want to know what’s in it for them, and BNP’s plan answers that question.”

He stressed that political tolerance is essential for the country`s progress. “Differences of opinion will exist, but respect must be maintained. At the end of the day, there is no alternative to democracy.”

Khasru warned that no reform will work without political stability. “Politics can no longer run without merit. BNP has introduced a new political trend by bringing forward the new generation.”

He urged party leaders and workers to align politics with the logic, reasoning, and information-based mindset of the youth. “This is no longer the era of slogan-based politics. Tarique Rahman’s new political approach is the future of BNP.”

He also claimed that following the collapse of Sheikh Hasina’s ‘fascist rule,’ public expectations have risen dramatically. “BNP is embracing those aspirations. Tarique Rahman has been able to capture the hopes of the people. We are now in the process of rebuilding the state. Those who cannot reflect public aspirations will not survive in Bangladesh’s politics,” he said.
