A toddler died after drowning in a beel while playing with friends at Singra upazila in Natore district on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Rathin Kumar, 3, son of Rajkumar Hawlader, a resident of Choto Chauddogram village in the upazila.

According to locals, Rathin was playing with his friends beside their house but suddenly drowned in the beel while playing.

Later, being informed by his friends, his family rescued him and took him to a local physician where Rathin was declared dead.

Singra Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mominuzzaman confirmed the death and said that an unnatural death case has been filed.
