| Four members of a family, including two children, were found slaughtered at Bahadurpur village of Niamatpur upazila in Naogaon in the early hours of Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Habibur Rahman, 32, his wife Popy Sultana, 25, their son Parvez, 9, and their three-year-old daughter Sadiya Akter. They were the residents of Bahadurpur village of Bahadurpur union in the upazila.
According to police and local sources, the family went to bed after dinner on Monday night. The killings are believed to have taken place during the night.
The incident was discovered early Tuesday after an elderly woman noticed the door of their house open following Fajr prayers. Upon entering, she found all four family members dead with their throats slit and immediately alerted villagers. Locals later informed police of the matter.
Being informed, a team of police rushed to the scene and recovered the bodies from there, said Niamatpur Police Station officer-in-charge Mahbubur Rahman.
Later, the bodies were sent to Naogaon 250-bed General Hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations.
They are looking into the matter, the OC said, adding that legal action will be taken against those found involved in the incident.
Locals supsected that the incident might have taken place over a land related dispute.
