| Another 33 children have been admitted to the isolation ward of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) with symptoms of measles in the past 24 hours. This brings the total number of children currently receiving treatment there to 85.
This information was confirmed on Tuesday morning (April 21) by Associate Professor Dr Md Golam Mawla, focal person of the hospital’s measles medical team.
He said that from March 17 to the morning of April 21, a total of 685 children have been admitted with measles-like symptoms. In the last 24 hours, 28 more children recovered and were discharged from the hospital. So far, a total of 585 children have been discharged, while 15 children have died during this period.
Assistant Director (Administration) of the hospital, Dr Md Mainuddin Khan, said that children aged from 1 month to 10 years have been admitted with measles symptoms, though the majority are between 3 months and 1 year of age. He added that three medical teams have been formed to manage treatment activities in the measles isolation ward. He also emphasized that guardians should remain aware and vigilant to help prevent measles among children.
