| The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations began on Tuesday morning.
The written examinations under the general education boards started at 10:00am with the Bangla First Paper. The written phase will continue until May 20, followed by practical examinations from June 7 to June 14.
A total of 18,57,344 candidates—9,30,305 boys and 9,27,039 girls—under 11 education boards have registered for the examinations. The number of examination centres this year is 3,885.
To ensure heightened security and strict monitoring during the SSC and equivalent examinations, the education administration and law enforcement agencies have remained active. In particular, Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon has issued special directives to prevent cheating, the use of digital devices for malpractice, and the leakage of question papers.
A visit to several examination centres in the capital showed that students and guardians began arriving from around 7:30am. Unlike other days, the weather in Dhaka was slightly more favourable today, with reduced heat, providing some relief to those present. However, some complained about traffic congestion on their way to the centres.
The chairman of the Inter-Education Board Examination Control Committee and Controller of Examinations of the Dhaka Education Board, Professor Kamal Uddin Haider, told News that everyone, including teachers and examinees, must strictly follow all board regulations. He added that the authorities are maintaining maximum alertness on the ground, including vigilance teams, to ensure a smooth examination process, and that no leniency will be shown for any unfair means.
