The BJP has previously stated that it does not support violence against any community and that law and order is a state subject. The RSS has also maintained publicly that it works for social harmony.

The reported surge in attacks has prompted statements from human rights organizations in India and abroad. They are calling for swift police investigations, protection for minorities, and action against hate speech. Several Muslim community leaders in India have urged the government to ensure that nationality checks are conducted by authorities only, and not by mobs.

Analysts note that such incidents tend to spike during periods of heightened political rhetoric around border security and illegal immigration.
