Special Correspondent: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) has conducted raids across Kulgam, Bandipora, Kupwara and Baramulla districts.

NIA teams, assisted by Indian paramilitary and police personnel, raided multiple residential houses across the districts.

The raids were carried out in connection with an ongoing investigation in a case, an Indian official claimed. The case is reportedly registered under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Meanwhile, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) also conducted searches at three locations in Poonch and Udhampur districts of the Jammu region. An official said that SIA teams conducted searches in the Mandi and Surankote areas of Poonch and Ramnagar in Udhampur.

Indian troops and probe agencies routinely conduct cordon and search operations and raids across IIOJK on various pretexts. During such operations, residents, including women and elderly people, are harassed, household belongings are vandalized, and cash and valuables are looted. Youth are also detained or directed to report to nearby army camps and police stations.

Kashmir watchers say that such actions are aimed at intimidating the Kashmiris and forcing them to abandon their UN-recognized right to self-determination.
